describe the menstrual cycle in terms of hormones
- high levels of fsh stimulate ovaries to produce oestrogen
- oestrogen inhibits (limits) the release of FSH and stimulates release of LH
- LH spike = ovulation
- Levels of progesterone increase inhibit LH + FSH
