Severe colicky loin to groin pain, dysuria

RF - salty diet, dehydration
Fever, dysuria, LUTS, flank/back pain
Pyelonephritis
RF - Frequent sexual intercourse, diabetes, catheter
Suprapubic pain + LUTS
Cystitis
RF - Frequent sexual intercourse, diabetes, catheter
(More likely UTI - burning sensation on peeing, polyuria, NO discharge, blood in pee more common in UTI)
LUTS + dysuria + urethral discharge/itching
Urethritis
RF - Age 15-24, females, new/multiple sex partners, male-male sex, unprotected sex
N.gonorrhoea
C.trachomatis
Urethral discharge can be blood or pus
LUTS + unilateral scrotal pain, dysuria
Epididymo-orchitis
<35 Men
- Chlamydia, Neisseria
> 35
- KEEPS (Klebsiella, enterococcus, E.coli, proteus mirabilis, S.saphrophyticus
LUTS + fever, dysuria, pelvic pain
Prostatitis
(Affects central zone)
RF - BPH
Peripheral oedema, foamy urine, weight gain
Nephrotic syndrome
Minimal change disease
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
Oliguria, peripheral oedema, haematuria, preceding viral illness by 2-3 days
IgA nephropathy
Oliguria, peripheral oedema, haematuria, preceding viral illness by 2-3 weeks
Post-strep glomerulonephritis
Oliguria, peripheral oedema, hypertension, haematuria, fever
Lupus nephritis
(Secondary to SLE)
(Add butterfly rash if needed)
Haemoptysis, haematuria, oliguria, oedema, fever
Good pasture syndrome
Painless haematuria + occupational exposure to aromatic amines
bladder cancer - transitional cell carcinoma
(Biggest RF - smoking)
Exposure to paints, rubber, dyes
LUTS + weight loss, fatigue, back pain
Prostate cancer
Adenocarcinoma of the peripheral zone
Painless lump in testicle (possible back pain)
Seminoma (most common) - testicular cancer
(RF - undescended testes)
LUTS, smokes, drinks a lot of coffee
Benign prostatic hyperplasia
Possible family history
Reduced urine output, fatigue, drowsy, N+V
Acute kidney injury
COULD BE AN OLDER PATIENT that present with heart condition, undergoes surgery (CABG), then can’t pee and starts vomiting
Peripheral oedema, proteinuria, fatigue, pruritus
Chronic kidney disease
(Diabetes most common cause)
Rapid onset unilateral testicular pain with N+V
Testicular torsion
- Bell clapper deformity
- Trauma
Dull aching scrotal pain that feels like a bag of worms
Varicocele
Painless scrotal swelling that increases with activity
Hydrocele
Painless lump at the top of the testicle
Epididymal cyst
