What is an ageing population?

The number of babies born per 1000 of the population per year.
What is a census?
A count of the population, taken every 10 years in the UK.

Facts and figures that give information.

The number of deaths per 1000 of the population per year.
What is an ethnic group?
A group of people that shares the same way of life, language and religion.
What is the infant mortality rate?
The number of babies who die before the age of 1 year, for every 1000 live births.
What is life expectancy?
The typical number of years that a person might expect to live.
What is proportion?
The size of one group compared to another.
What is natural increase?
The difference between birth rate and death rate.
What is policy?
A set of plans and ideas. Governments, for example, set out their policies.
What is population structure?
How a country’s population is made up of different age groups and of males and females.
What is a pro-natalist policy?
