What are some of the most effective ways to have students read out loud in class?

A
  1. Keep the identity of the next reader a mystery.
  2. Vary the lengths of the readings, but keep them short.
  3. Reduce the transition time between readers.
  4. Use bridging, where the teacher reads in between students.
  5. As the teacher, read all but the last phrase or word and let the students all finish it together, out loud.
  6. Tell students to hold their place if you interrupt the reading.

  2. Repeat the part that they read incorrectly.
