1st line treatment for ulcers:
Treats GERD
Omeprazole
Iansoprazole
(both proton pump inhibitors)
Histamine receptor antagonists
Inhibits acid production by clocking H2 receptors on parietal cells.
Treats GERD
Cimetidine (drug interaction with warfarin and theophylline)
Famotidine (no iteractions)
Prostaglandin analog
cannot give to pregnant women
Binds to and actives EP3 receptors–> increases bicarb, inhibits histamine.
Misoprostol
Anti-histamine
Tx of motion sickness
Limits stimulation of vomiting center.
Inhibits H1 receptor:
Dimenhydrinate
Anti-cholinergic Tx of motion sickness Limit stimulation of vomiting center Inhibit muscarinic receptor. Side effects: dry mouth, urinary retention, blurred vision
Scopolamine
Serotonin receptor antagonist
Tx of visceral nausea
Block 5HT3 receptors in small bowel
Reduce emetic signals
Ondansetron
Dopamine receptor antagonists
Blocks D2 like DA receptors
Extensive side effects: sedation, orthostatic hypotension, tar dive dyskinesia.

Chlorpromazine
