What does the hazard management cycle show?

Who uses the hazard management cycle?
Many international management communities (local and global)
What is an issue with the hazard management cycle?
Doesn’t show the impact of the event nor the speed of the recovery.
What is different about the park model?
Attempts to model the impacts from before to after the event using QOL and time to assess effectiveness of responses.
What are the stages in the park model?
Pre disaster, Disaster, disruption, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction
Why is the park model useful?
Allows a comparison between different regions and hence the effectiveness of the responses.
What is a limitation of the park model?
Doesn’t account for differences is development (capacity to respond) and isn’t specific about what hazards made the most significant impact.
