Observe at home for AMS

How do you manage a contusion?
Rarely any intervention
What can be used to help manage Subdural and Epidural Hematoma?
Hyperventilation: decreases pCO2
Mannitol: osmotic diuretic: decreases intravascular volume and ICP
What can occur with a large intracranial hemorrhage?
Compression of ventricles or sulci
Herniation with abnormal bleeding and unilateral dilation of the pupil
Worsening mental status or focal findings
How does a subdural hemorrhage appear on head CT?
Crescent shape from venous bleed
How does an epidural hematoma appear on head CT?
Lens-shaped from arterial bleedd
What is given to prevent stress ulcers in patients with head trauma?
