What legislation governs Health and Safety?
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
What is a risk assessment?
A careful examination of what, in your work, could cause harm to people, so that you can weigh whether suitable precautions have been taken to prevent harm and implement additional measures if required.
How would you carry one out?
- Identify hazards
- Assess the risks
- Control the risks
- Record your findings
- Review the controls
What is IOSH H&S training?
It is a practice-based qualification that demonstrates the importance of safety and health in a business environment.
It is made up of three modules:
* Safety and health management in the workplace
* How to influence a safety and health culture in an organisation
* A strategic business-focused approach to safety and health
How do you report near misses and accidents at your place of work?
These are reported to the HSE representative in the office and line manager informed. This is reported in the monthly divisional call with tool box talks reflective of incidents and additional training needs are identified.
What are CDM regulations?
Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 – recommended in all cases, applicable where more than one contractor, or subcontractors, used as part of a project.
When do you need to notify Health and Safety Executive?
- Works to be longer than 30 days
- It will have more than 20 workers working at one time
- The works has more than 500 person hours
