A

Most commonly inherited disorder of hemostasis

24
Q

What are the breeds that most commonly have Von Willebrand’s?

A

Doberman pinschers, GSD, lab retrievers. Affected animals should not be bred

Easy bruising, prolonged bleeding time during estrus, prolonged bleeding after venipuncture
26
How do you diagnose Von Willebrand's?
Buccal mucosal bleeding time >4min DNA confirmation Positive ELISA
27
How do you treat Von Willebrands
Manage bleeding episodes with plasma. Control bleeding during surgery
28
What does FIV stand for?
Feline immunodeficiency virus

Outdoor, male cats 6-8 years old
30
How do you diagnose FIV?
In house serology
31
How do you treat FIV?
Supportive care, limit contact with other cats, do not vaccinate after postive
32
T/F you can still vaccinate for FIV if a pet is positive
