Hemopoesis Flashcards
(11 cards)
Erythropoesis
Reticulocyte nucleus shrinks and disappears
and retain enough metabolic activity to maintain membrane, hemoglobin, anabolic metabolism
what is needed to produce RBCs
membrane, hemoglobin, anabolic metabolism
How long does erythropoiesis take?
about 8 days
what is required for RBC to form
iron, B12, folic acid
normal number of RBC
5x10^2/ liter
Leukopoesis
lymphocyte progenitors migrate to the tissues to mature
circulating granulocytes are
mature and ready to act
circulating monocytes are
immature and develop into macrophages
numbers vary based on the type of growth factor that is released
Thrombopoiesis
Derived from megokaryocyte in the bone marrow and produced by fragmentation not mitosis
Formation of a megakaryocyte
cytoplasm develops a vesicle
membrane becomes discontinuous
Sheds cytoplasmic fragments into blood through sinusoids of bone marrow
noral platelet conts
250x10^9 average life span- 3 days spleen holds 1/3 of total reserve controlled by: hormone thrombopoietin growth factor
