A

Jarres drops out for Hidenburg (who asked ex kaisers permission before running)
SPD with drew Braun as they knew Max was more likely to beat Hidenburg- they weren’t stealing votes away from the one who could beat him
NSDAP didn’t try again.

Cooperation between parties was to achieve some form of advantage
Ruling by decree became routine
Pro monarchy tendencies started to show
After 1925 didn’t believe in democracy and not prepared to defend against its enemies

What were public attitudes toward Republic? 2 for each

A

Industrial workers - Republic had not delivered and democracy was failing
Middle classes - Support for moderate parties for Weimar success and some supported democracy
Elites - Believed republic was traitorous and Hindenburgs election helped ease hostility - thought authoritarian rule was returning

What was the extent of political stability, in 1928?

A

In comparison to the early years and, 1929 to 32, 1924 to 28, can be interpreted as a time of political stability.
Political violence was reduced: no extremist rebellions
Election of Hindenburg in 1925, can be seen as a sign that the traditional Conservatives were beginning to adapt, and accommodate to the new reality of a democratic republic.
On the other hand, coalition, government was still fragile.
