What was it?

A

rebellion against Soviet control in Hungary in October–November 1956. It was a major challenge to Soviet power in Eastern Europe during the Cold War.

what happened 23rd of October?

A

23 October 1956: Peaceful student protests in Budapest demand reform, free elections, and withdrawal of Soviet troops. Violence breaks out when the secret police open fire.

24th of October?

A

The USSR sends tanks into Budapest. The communist government collapses. Imre Nagy, a moderate communist, becomes Prime Minister.

A

What happened on the 4th of November?

A

Soviet tanks return in full force. Around 200,000 troops and 1,000 tanks crush the revolution.
