Ideal Conditions For Photosynthesis Flashcards
(8 cards)
What’s the most common way to artificially create the ideal environment for plants?
Growing plants in a greenhouse
What do greenhouses help trap?
The suns heat and make sure the temperature doesn’t become limiting
What could a farmer do in winter time when the temperature may be too low for a greenhouse?
They may use a heater
What could the farmer do in summer when the temperature may be too high?
They may use shades and ventilation to cool things down
What could farmers do to keep photosynthesis going after the Sun goes down?
Use artificial light
How could a farmer increase the level of carbon dioxide in a greenhouse?
A common way is to use a paraffin heater to heat the greenhouse. As the paraffin burns, it makes carbon dioxide as a byproduct.
By putting plants in a greenhouse, what could you avoid?
Keeping plants enclosed in a greenhouse also makes easier to keep them free from pests and diseases. The farmer can add fertilisers to the soil as well to provide all the minerals needed for healthy growth.
