The Rate Of Photosynthesis Flashcards
(9 cards)
What affects the rate of photosynthesis?
Light intensity, CO2 concentration, and temperature
At night time, what is the limiting factor of photosynthesis?
Light
In winter, what is the limiting factor for photosynthesis?
Temperature
If it’s warm enough and bright enough, what is the limiting factor for photosynthesis?
CO2 concentration
How can chlorophyll be a limiting factor for photosynthesis?
The amount of chlorophyll in a plant can be affected by disease or environmental stress. These factors can cause chloroplasts to become damaged or not make enough chlorophyll. This means the rate of photosynthesis is reduced because they can’t absorb as much light.
As light intensity increases, does the rate of photosynthesis increase or decrease?
As light intensity increases photosynthesis rate also increases, but only up to a certain point.
In a lab, how can you change the light intensity?
By moving a lamp closer or further away from the plant
How do enzymes involved in photosynthesis work at a low temperature?
Slowly
What temperature is too hot for photosynthesis to occur?
45°C
