A
  • philippics composed by cicero starting 44BC. he was anti-MA and wanted to renew the republic
  • MA attacks assassins at JC funeral and assassins flee rome
  • MA presenting himself as JC’s successor
  • attempt to rally senate against MA and later send army against him.
  • they see aug as lesser of two evils so induct him into the senate.

he didnt wait the month until DB’s term was over and takes over gaul. senate think hes making a play for power so send army against him.
