Prices rose dramatically
Prices of food rose dramatically. Prices could change by the hour, making it difficult for people to feed their families
Money worthless
Money lost its value, so savings soon became worthless - what previously would have been lifetime saving becomes less valuable than bread

Elderly suffered greatly as pensions became worthless as they were fixed wages and did not rise with inflation ( can’t cover the cost of basic necessities)
Couldn’t afford fuel
People couldn’t afford fuel and suffered from the cold, so they burned bank notes to keep warm
Loss of jobs
People lost their jobs as companies went bust or could no longer afford to pay them. Due to this many Germans found themselves in poverty (poor-sick)
Sold sentimental items
People sold items of value and sentimental value to stay alive, which caused unhappiness
