Propaganda
Used to spread fear and Nazi ideology. Made people feel isolated and under attack, especially Jews who were main targets of the propagnada.
Gestapo
The secret police (gestapo) was created, and they rounded up enemies of the state. They used torture to gain confessions which frightened people
Informers
Informers were employed by gestapo to inform about friend/neighbours or anything they thought was anti-Nazi. This made Germans paranoid as they always felt like someone was wathcing them.
Concentration camps
Concentration Camps such as Dachau were created and used to imprison political opponents and Nazi critics. Accounts of what prisoners experienced leaked to the public increased fear of being arrested.
Police state
A police state was created, and the SS used fear and punishment to enforce the obedience of the German people
Peoples courts
“Peoples Courts” were set up. All judges had to swear an oath of loyalty Nazis, the courts gave the Nazis greater power over sentencing political enemies and criminals.
