Magazines were very popular. People enjoyed getting advice about what to buy or do to improve their lives.
How did IPC take advantage of it being the post war period?
By making a range of similar weekly women’s magazine that were very successful.
Why did IPC create Women’s Realm?
They had the magazine woman that was selling 3 million copies a week, so they made another similar one to make more profit (curran and seaton/hesmondhalgh)
How were IPC vertically intergrated?
They purchased printing press company called Odhams. This meant they had a large capacity for printing.
What did they used their extra capacity at Odhams to do?
To print Womens Realm.

Decades

Why did it start to decline?
Women had more power, they were no longer getting married or having children at such a young age.
