Q

Simplified stages of meiosis

A
  1. Chromosomes are copied
  2. Chromosomes become visible and nuclear membrane breaks down
  3. Homologous chromosomes pair up and crossing over occurs
  4. Chromosome pairs align in middle
  5. Move to opposite ends with independent assortment, random distribution of chromosomes from mother/father
  6. Cells divides in 2
  7. Cell divides again, resulting in 4 cells
