What are the 8 different types of injuries you need to learn for gcse PE?
Sprain, torn cartilage, strain, fractures, abrasions, concussions, dislocation, soft tissue injuries
What is concussion?
Concussion is an injury to the head, symptoms can be headaches, weakness , loss of co-ordination or balance, confusion or slurred speech.
Protocol : under 19 = 23 days without any symptoms
What are the 4 different types of fractures?
Compound, simple, stress, in closed
What are the type of fractures?
Greenstick, transverse, impacted, commuted, oblique
What is dislocation?
Dislocation is when a bone at a joint is forced out ofits normal position. Often occurs as a result of a hard blow which causes one of the bones to be displaced
What are the 3 types pf dislocation?
Anterior, posterior, lateral , medial and rotary damage
What is a torn cartilage
A torn cartilage is a firm elastic substance that joins your bones tears
What is a muscle strain?
A strain is a twist, pull or tear of a muscle or tendon
What is a sprain?
A sprain is a damaged ligament. One of the most common sprains in sport is a twisted ankle
What is an abrasion?
Abrasion is a graze or cut that can be caused by friction of the skin against a rough surface
