intermediate uveitis
vitreous primary site of inflammation - also affects ciliary body and peripheral retina
incorperates pars plancta, posterior cyclitis and hyalitis
idiopathic or assoated with systemic disease
IU symptoms
Insidous onset of blurred vision
vitreous floaters
no pain but redness
initiated symptoms often unilateral - may be bilateral but asymetricalI
IU signs VA
dependant on inflammation present
depends on control of macular diasease
IU signs Anterior uvea
may be afew cells and smal scatering KP
IU signs vitreous
condensation and haze in more severe cases
snowballs - whitish focal condensation
IU signs snow banking
Grey - whitw fibrovascular or plaque exudates
IU signs haze grading
No viiw of NFL = 0
clear disc and vessels and little haze NFL = +1
disc and vessels hazy = +2
only disc visible = +3
Disc not visible = +4
IU signs
Optic disc swelling
cmo
cataracts
glaucoma
retinal tears
retinal detachent
Sight threateing ocular signs
sig vitritis
corticoretinitis affecting posterior pole and macula
central retinal vasculitis
occlusive vasculitis
neovas
General investigations
BP
uranlysis
bloodcount
gluecose
liver function
cholesterol
chest x rays
treatment
topical steroids
NSAIDS
Cryotherapy of inflammation is steroid resistant or peripheral retianal laser therapy
intraocular steroids
immunosuppresions agents of steroid resistant
pars plancita vitrectomy (ret detach px)
