A

Interviewer will use some standardised instructions where ethical standards (e.g. HCPC guidelines) are considered to ensure patients are aware of process

What do interviews allow? And what can interviews be?

A

Dialogue between clinicians + patient to learn about patient’s state, lasts between 1-2 hours

Can be structured = Specific questions asked to form diagnosis

Can be unstructured = Uses open questions to consider how individual copes with day-to-day life

A

Can see people’s body language + the way they act, and can gather more detail and let people expand on answers

A

To see if there was gender differences in number of re-hospitalisations and length of thise stays between males + females with schizophrenia

Also to study pre-morbid factors (factors before illness onset) to see if they had impact on number + length of re-hospitalisation
