What is primary data?
Production ;of primary data can give info thats unique to aim of research
May be gathered from clinical intervuews with mentally ill patients regarding symptoms + experiences

What are some strengths + weaknesses of primary data?
- More expensive to conduct + collect research data
- More time consuming
- More accurate + directly focused on behaviour wanting to be studied
What is secondary data?
Secondary data has already been gathered by someone else + are used by someone else for further research
May be data from other researchers thats re-used for a different purpose, e.g. statistics in a newspaper
What are some strengths + weaknesses of secondary data?
- Less expensive info available in public domain/readily accessible
- Not as time consuming
- Access data not otherwise available to collect but this may be less valid/reliable
What are some examples of primary data?
Interviews, diary entries, case studies, questionnaires, observations, experiments
What are some examples of secondary data?
Journal articles, medical data, books, websites
