A

Acronyms can be used to remember orders of structures or names of things found in a particular space

NAVEL- structures passing deep to the inguinal ligament
-femoral nerve, femoral artery, femoral vein, femoral canal, “empty space”, lacunae ligament

A

Adding a combining form (a,e,I,o,u,y) to 2 or more word roots allow the to be joined to form a compound word

It also allows a word root to be joined with a suffix (word ending) to form a word

Examples : cyt/o/meter, micr/o/scope,micr/o/be

What is a suffix?

A

A suffix is added to the END of a word root or combining form to modify its meaning

By adding a suffix to the end of a word root, we create a noun or adjective with a different meaning

Suffix: a word part that is added (fix) at the end of the word or word part. The term suffix is a derivihation of the word meaning “to fasten”. It usually, but not always, indicate the procedure, condition, disorder, or disease
