Jan 11 Tissue to membrane Flashcards
(14 cards)
define membrane
flat sheets of flexible tissues with underlying CT
fn of membrane
forms interfaces/barriers with other body parts
3 types of membrane
mucous, serous,cutaneous
mucous membrane cover
parts exposed to exterior (digestive, urinary, respiratory, reproductive etc)
exposed surface of mucous membrane are
epithelial tissue containing goblet cells
underlying CT of mucous mebrane
lamina propra= loose aerolar tissue
fn of mucous
prevents drying out
traps particles
lubricates
serous membrane lines
internal cavities that don’t open directly to the exterior
visceral layer is the
organ side
parietal layer is the
wall side
fn of serous membrane
creates frictionless movement btwn organ and cavity
pleural membranes line the
lung cavity
cutaneous membrane are
directly expose to outside. skin
synovial membrane wraps around
mobile joints
