Focuses lab 15
PET data correction, developing controls, pigment chromatography and chlorophyll fluorescence
What is Rf in paper chromatography
Retardation factor - distance traveled by medium out of total distance of solvent front
What do we expect to see in chlorophyll chromatography
Chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, B-carotenes (bright yellow), xanthophylls (pale yellow) - order should be carotene, xanth, a, b from furthest to least travelled
Which ones fluoresce
Only chlorophylls fluoresce
Why does chlorophyll a move further than b
More polar (less non polar groups on outside)
Positive vs negative controls
Positive - known to create change, will produce result. Negative - known to have no effect, no change expected
