laws and such in health and the people GCSE Flashcards
(4 cards)
what does this statement show?
“Public Health limited. Local councils attempt to force people to clean up their waste, but most measures ineffective and raising taxes to pay for these were unpopular. Monasteries and the houses of the wealthy have running water, and thus better hygiene.”
Shows how there was some form of knowledge of ‘if theres mess, its probably not that great.’ even if it was more in the idea of miasma.
Additionally, shows a disparity with the health of the people, the wealthy are alright, but the poor are not - also shows a greater sense of different compared to the health legislations, such as the one that was not optional.
Why was blood letting and amputation common for barber surgeons?
as they were only really taught to do as such, as they followed the basic training, done by those who rejected all knew ideas that went against what Hippocrates and Galen said.
Despite ‘caring for the sick’ who did the nuns and monks actually care for?
the old and poor, but rarely those who were actually diseased - as they had no way of treating them.
