what is the definition of leadership
the ability to influence, inspire and direct others towards achieving a common goal

What is autocratic leadership
-leaders make decisions without consulting others, employees are expected to follow with no input.
what are the positives and negatives of autocratic leadership
+can be affective when quick decisions are needed
-may demotivate employees if overused
what is democratic leadership
this leader involves employees in decision making
what are the positives and negatives of democratic leadership
+employees often feel more motivated and valued
-decision making can be slower
what is paternalistic leadership
-the leader makes decisions in the best interest of employees
-employees are consulted to some extent but final decision is still made by leader.
what is bureaucratic leadership
-this leader follows fixed rules, policies and procedures very closely, important when safe and precision is critical.
what is laissez-faire leadership
-leader takes hands off approach and allows employees to make decisions
