Leader provides little support or input and let’s team members do as they wish

Leaders are born with leadership qualities
these traits are stable and enduring and can be generalised across different situations

weakness = people in sport tend to have specific leadership skills working against approach
Describe the social learning theory of leadership?
Leadership characteristics can be learnt from others and copying others (vicarious learning)

Strength = high status models more likely to be copied showing the importance of the social environment for adapting leadership qualities rather than trait

An individual may have certain born leadership traits but don’t become evident unless a situation demands the behaviour
