Lecture 14 Flashcards
(10 cards)
Immediate hypersensitivity HS
- release of mediators from mast cells
- depends on IgE Ab against environmental antigen and IgE to mast cells
Antibody-mediated HS
-IgM and IgE directed against cells
Immune-Complex HS
-IgM and IgE against soluble antigens form complex with antigens and deposit in various tissues
T cell-mediated HS
-T lymphocytes against self antigens in tissues
Therapy for treating Type I HS
inhibit mast cell degranulation and reduce inflammation
What are the major causes of T cell-mediated HS?
autoimmunity and exaggerated response to environmental antigens
Why is Type 4 considered delayed-type HS?
-takes time for effector T cells to home so site of antigen challenge, response, and secrete cytokines that induce detectable reaction
For Goodpasture’s Syndrome (Type II HS), what pattern should you see?
-smooth linear staining pattern binding around glomerular basement membrane
Diffuse granular stain defines what type of HS?
Type III- for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
Which anti-CD20 monoclonal Ab is used for treating Type II and III HS?
Rituximab
