What are the consequences of obesity in children and in adults?

A

Children
Short term: musculoskeletal problems, asthma, body dissatisfaction, poor self-esteem, depression
Long term: more likely obesity in adulthood, abnormal lipid profiles, impaired glucose tolerance and high blood pressure
Adults:
Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, some cancers (eg. breast), osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, reproductive abnormalities
Musculoskeletal problems, asthma, body dissatisfaction, poor self-esteem, depression
