What are composite materials
Materials made from 2+ constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties to form an overall structure that is better than the sum of the individual components
Why does concrete not make a good boat
Hard to manipulate, heavier in water and consumed more fuel, expensive to operate, sailors thought they were floating tombstones
What is Product Semantics
A language and guidelines for designers to inject meaning into their designs, focused on how meanings are made through form and function of a product
What is a sign composed of
Signified / a signifier
Definition of signified
Concept it Represents. The meaning of the object, what we experience, think and feel when interacting with it
What is a signifier
The form that the sign takes. A physical form of an object. We see, touch and smell it
What is Denotation
The literal, actual meaning of a sign. What the product is, how we use it
