Lecture 5 Flashcards
(22 cards)
Provides reinforcement for every occurrence of behaviour
Continuous reinforcement
A contingency of reinforcement in which some but not all occurrences of behaviour produce reinforcement
Intermittent reinforcement
Requires a number of responses before one response produces reinforcement
Ratio schedules
Specific amount of time elapses before a single response produces reinforcement
Interval schedules
Reinforcement is contingent on the occurrence of one response after the required time has elapsed.
Time schedules
Ratio or the time requirement remains constant.
Fixed schedules
A schedule of reinforcement in which reinforcement is delivered for the first .response emitted following the passage of a fixed duration of time since the last response was reinforced.
Fixed interval schedule
A schedule of reinforcement requiring a fixed number ofresponses for reinforcement
Fixed ratio schedule
The response ratio or the time requirement can change from one reinforced response to another.
Variable schedules
A schedule of reinforcement that provides reinforcement for the first correct response following the elapse of variable durations of time occurring in a randomn or unpredictable order.
Variable interval
A schedule of reinforcement requiring a varying number of responses for reinforcement.
Variable ratio schedules
Abrupt increases in ratio requirements when moving from dense to thinner reinforcement schedules.
Ratio strain
Increasing response ratio or duration of time interval.
Schedule thinning
Reinforcement remains available for a finite time following the elapse of the v1 or f1 interval
Limited hold
The reinforcement of responses higher than a predeterimned criterion.
Differntial reinforcement of high rates of behaviour
The reinforcement of responses lower than a predeterimed criterion.
Differenctial reinforcement of low rates of behaviour
The reinforcement of responses lower than a predeterimined criterion.
Differential reinforcement of diminishing rates of behaviour
Occurs when two or more contingencies of reinforcement operate independently and simultaneously for two or more behaviours
Concurrent schedules of reinforcement
Presents two or more basic schedules of reinforcement in an alternating usually randomn sequence. Basic schedules occur successively and independently. A discriminative stimulus is correlated with each basic schedule and is presnt as long as the schedule is in effect.
Multiple schedules of reinforcement
A schedule of reinforcement in which the response requirements of two or more basic schedules must be met in a specific sequence before reinforcement is delivered. A discriminative stimulus is correlated with each component of the schedule.
Chained schedules of reinforcement
A compund schedule of reinforcement consisting of two or more basic schedules of reinforcement that occur in an alternating usually randomn sequence. No discriminative stimulus are correlated with the prescence or abscence of each element of the schedule. Reinforcement is delivered for meeting the response requirements of the element in effect at any time.
Mixed schedules of reinforcement
Identical to the chained schedule except the tandem schedule does not use discriminative stimuli with the elements in the chain.
Tandem schedules of reinforcement
