What is the Health and Safety at Work Act?
1974
This act relates to how health and safety is managed in the setting, eg. reporting hazards, using safety equipment, keeping yourself and others safe
What is the Children Act?
2004
This Act was set up to support multi-agency working to keep children safe. It also ensures that parents and all those who work with children and young people are able to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
What is the Female Genital Mutilation Act?
2003
Includes provisions intended to protect young girls and be vigilant/know the signs to look out for that may indicate risk of FGM. Under this act it is an offence to fail to protect a girl from such a risk.
What is the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act?

Aims to prevent unsuitable people from working with children and young people and vulnerable adults. Through this the CRB, was set up for checking the background of everyone working with vulnerable groups.

This Act was set up to improve services for children. Parents and families have more control over their child’s welfare. The Act sets out the requirement for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for children and young people with SEND.

This Act was brought in to respond to the risk of terrorism. It was introduced to ensure that relevant authorities consider the need to prevent people from being drawn into terorism and act to prevent radicalisation. Prevent duty.
