A
Statutory interpretation is when judges apply or generate meaning for words within acts (laws) made by parliament to resolve a dispute
The wording itself does not change, however the interpretation of the words forms the reasoning for the decision (precedent) which is used to guide future cases of similar material fact

As an impact, the courts may be required to clarify the meaning of legislation to better apply it to a particular case. This process is known as statutory interpretation. If this occurs in a superior court, it establishes a precedent
