out of the 12 democratic elements= govt performance exceeds only 2 times= shows there is a lack of satisfaction and confidence in govt eg. elections are fair/human rights are protected/ impartiality of judiciary system= not meeting people expectations

-where indiv. obtain their info eg. trad media/ social media/ family and friends/ govt websites etc… –> scientific papers= most reliable source/ social media= most unreliable
barriers to democracy
-low levels of participation
-corruption/ integrity/ fairness/ foreign interference
participation
-civic engagement= low+ limited involvement in democratic activities/ voting is the most popular form of participation
-attending protests/ march or demonstrations or signing petitions= 24% not attend
concerns
-general consensus that people are dissatisfied with democracy however see that there can be improvements made= 51%
