Past simple (I saw) vs Present perfect (I have seen)
Explanation:
- Can often be used interchangeably (= they mean the same);
- Used for completed actions (I saw that movie. = I’ve seen that movie. => finished action)
- If we use a finished time indicator such as: yesterday, 2 days ago, last year, in 2005, etc.: we can only use the simple past. Example: I saw that movie last month. (Not “I’ve seen that movie last month.”).
