How does lichen planus present?

A
  • Itch, papular rash most common on the palms, soles, genitalia and flexor surfaces on arms
  • Rash is often polygonal with ‘white lines’ pattern on the surface
  • New skin lesions may appear at the site of trauma
  • White-lace pattern on the buccal mucousa may be present
  • Nail thinning

How is Lichen planus managed?

A
  • Potent topical steroids
  • Benzydamine mouthwash/spray for oral lichen planus
  • Extensive disease may need oral steroids/immunosuppresion
