The study of how living things are classified is called

taxonomy

1

This causes a response

stimulus

2

Cells can be seen due to the invention of the

Microscope

3

Specialized cells are found in multicellular or unicellular organisms

multicellular

4

An organisms ability to keep a stable internal condition is due to

Homeostasis

5

What does an organisms scientific name consists of

Genus and species

6

What are the characteristics of an organism that are used to place them into kingdoms

Cell type, ability to make food, and numbers of cells in there bodies

7

The mistaken idea that living things can come from nonliving things is called

spontaneous generation

8

The more classification levels that two organisms share the more____________ they share

Characteristics

9

An autotrophs source of energy is from the

Sun

10

This is the process of change that occurs during an organisms life, producing a more complex organism

Development

11

Who developed a naming system that group organisms based on observable features

Carlous Linnaeus

12

What is the broadest level organization out of the 8 levels of classification

Domain

13

Felis concolor, which is the genus name of it

Felis

14

What was the concept that Redi and
Pasteur were trying to disprove? Describe
their experiments?

They were trying to disprove spontaneous generation. Redi- he designed a controlled experiment to show that maggots, which develop into new flies, do not arise from decaying meat.
Pasteur- he put clear broth into flasks with curved necks, the necks let in air but kept out bacteria, he boiled the broth in the flasks to kill all bacteria present

15

What at are the characteristics of all
living things?

cellular organization, contain similar chemicals, use energy, respond to their surroundings, grow and develop, and reproduce

16

What are the 4 needs of all living
things?

Food, water, living space, stable internal conditions

17

___________are members of the fungi kingdom.

mushrooms

18

Two Domains of prokaryote are

Bacteria and Archaea
