Q

What happens first?

A

= ribulose bisphosphate (rubh) 5 carbons
= reacts with co2- this is an co2 acceptor 6 carbons , and is catalysted by the enzyme rubisco
= this forms 2 molecules of glycerate 3 phosphate, splits, as it is unstable- a 3 carbon molecule

Q

What happens in the next stage?

A

= glycerate 3 phosphate is reduced into triosphoshate using energy from ATP and the hydrogen from reduced NADPH- so this is oxidised
= there are 2 triosphosphate
=spme of the carbon from tp leaves tge cycle each turn to convert into useful organic substances
= cycle happens 6 times, 6 carbons haev been removed and this forms hexose sugar
=
= the rest of the molecule is used to regenerate rubp, with the energy from ATP, requires ATO

Q

What is formed?

A

= the monoscharide can join together to form dissacharides, such as surcrose, maltose and lactose, or polysacharides
= or can be stord
