-excessive pressure on the walls of the arteries cause the walls to weaken/ burst can lead to strokes and heart disease.
-can also lead to damage if capillaries in the kidney and retina

Stress, high fat abdominal salt diets , lack of exercise
-smoking/ alcohol

A

Medication
-ace inhibitors lower blood pressure
-beta blockers which slow the heart rate

-lifestyle changes
-blood will need to be taken regularly to monitor.
