-small crack in a bone and or severe bruising within a bone

fatigue (normal bone with too much stress) and insufficiency (weakened bone with normal stress)

-shallow hip socket that doesn’t fully cover the femur head

-femur head slips at the physis from the femur neck usually seen in adolescents and teens

What is slipped capital femoral epiphysis caused by?
obesity, growth surges, and endocrine disorders like hypothyroidism
Slipped capital femoral epiphysis may have referred pain where?
in the knee
Can you adjust a slipped capital femoral epiphysis or someone with osteonecrosis?
NO
What is the typical prognosis for someone with slipped capital femoral epiphysis?
surgery and then eventually will develop degenerative hip arthritis
What issue is this?
-leg calve perthes in children affects growth plate
-an interruption of the blood supply to the femur head causes tissue death and pain
-may occur bilaterally
avascular necrosis/ osteonecrosis
What issue is this?
-malformed bones of the hip joint come into close proximity and compress or pinch tissue or cause too much friction between tissues
-causes limitation in hip flexion and internal rotation
femoral acetabular impingement
What are the 2 types of femoral acetabular impingement?
cam and pincer
What issue would have these symptoms?
-sharp, deep anterior hip pain
-often seen with squatting
-pain can also be with running when starting, stopping, or changing directions

What are the causes of acetabular labrum tears?
-macro to repetitive micro traumas
-femoral acetabular impingement
-hip dysplasia
-capsular laxity
What issue would have these symptoms?
-moderate to severe hip pain and catching with groin pain being the most severe

What issue is this?
-repetitive activities
-anterior hip and groin pain worse with activities such as climbing stairs and jogging
-pain may radiate to butt or down thigh
