9
Q

We are performing a CAT xxx approach into EHAM. We come up with a fire. The decision made is to continue. At 50ft, “FLARE” does not display on the FMA. What do we do?

A

AP OFF, take over and land anyway. A GA would be more risky than landing the aircraft in these conditions.

Q

What is an approach ban?

A

APPROACH BAN is a type of app in which you can continue past the approach ban point provided the TDZ RVR, and MID/STOP if reported and relevant, are above minimum.
- 1000 ft AAL. (BARO ALTITUDE‼️)
or
- Into the final app segment in the case where the DA/H or MDA/H is more than 1000ft AAL.

Q

STANDARD CALL-OUTS LVO APP.

A

[500ft RA] : PM “500ft, stable/Not stable, Go Around”
PF “Checked/Go Around flaps”

[400ft-350ft RA] “LAND” Checks ILS course on PFD

*[200ft RA] AUTOLAND LIGHT: Red line starts: GO AROUND

[100ft RA] Alert height: PM “One hundred”; PF “Continue”

[50ft RA] “FLARE” PF: “Flare”
[30ft RA] “THR IDLE”
[10ft RA] “ROLLOUT”

17
Q

You are at 10ft over the runway and “AUTOLAND” light is not illuminated. What would you do?

A

Go around. The aircraft is not doing an autoland, it hasn’t been briefed, no flare, no rollout = too risky to continue.

18
Q

What are the 3 factors that may make us go around BELOW 1000ft? (LVO)

A

> Master caution or
Triple click ➡️ GA
Master warning ➡️ Pilot discretion (e.g. ENG FIRE)

19
Q

LVO APP. You are at 700ft and the ND on the PF fails. What would you do?

A

Continue as it doesn’t affect landing capability of the aircraft.

20
Q

LVO APP. You have an engine failure at 550ft. What would you do?

A

“Go around”. It hasn’t been briefed so it may be a bit safer to do it rather than land. But the aircraft is perfectly capable of doing it.

21
Q

LVO APP. What are the 3 factors that may make us go around BELOW 200ft?

A

> Master caution or
Triple click ➡️ GA
AUTOLAND red light ➡️ GA

22
Q

LVO APP. What is the only warning you might get BELOW 100ft that may you make a go around?

A

The only warning you get is AUTOLAND LIGHT and if you do get it = GA❗️

23
Q

What is the minimum cloud base limit?

A

200ft

24
Q

RVR and minima for CAT I,II,III?

A

CAT I - 550m / 200ft
CAT II - 300m / 100ft

CAT III - 175m / WITH DH 50ft
CAT III - 75m / NO DH

25
Q

Where do I see the take off minima of an airport?

A

AOI - Departure section.

26
Q

What is considered “icing conditions”?

A
  • Below 10°C
  • Visible moisture,
Or surface snow, standing water or slush may be ingested by the engines or freeze on engines/nacelles/probes.

OMB 2.3.9 After Start

27
Q

Ice shedding procedure, A319-A320 CEO & A320-A321 NEO.

A

CEO: Parking brake ON or brake with pedals, 70% N1 for 30s at intervals of 30mins.

NEO: Parking brake ON or brake with pedals, 50% N1 for 5s at intervals of 60 mins.

(Normally on the rwy for both, right before take off)

28
Q

QNH correction procedure. (hPA per degree)

A

Only when QNH is reduced. 2°C per hPA.
