Conclusions
Mirror treatment is useful and effective way to treat phantom limb pain it avoids patient having to take medication which can have negative side effects and it gives patient control over their own pain
Patient with phantom and pain can have free well to control their pain
Strength
A strength is that it’s a case study methodology. This study gives detailed insight into the background of the patient and how effective the treatment was compared to other treatments, such as medication and TNS. This makes it more valid.
What are the weaknesses?
As it was a case study, the findings cannot be generalized from one individual to the wider population. This is because their experiences of using your treatment and maybe completely different to other people who experience philosophy, especially as we know the pain is subjective and can differ due to culture and gender
Another week is that the research is acknowledged the possibility of placebo effect. This is where the knowledge that you’re receiving treatment can have a positive effect for example, the attention that Alan has gotten from Clinic as part of the treatment or even change of dressing must of contributed to the results lowering its validity.
