autocratic management

manager retains all control, time used efficiently, may maintain employee morale better than autocratic
disadvantages- no employee input could lead to less considered / informed decisions, employees may not feel empowered.
consultative management
where leader asks employees for their opinions before making a decision
advantages and disadvantages of consultative
advantages- asking for suggestion broadens ideas so decisions can be enhanced, boosts employee satisfaction and motivation
disadvantages- time is taken to consult, slower process, some employees suggestions may be ignored causing resentment
participative management
where leader shares decision making responsibilities with the team
advantages and disadvantages of participative
advantage- recognizes skills and abilities of employees empowering them to make decisions, teamwork, group decision making can lead to optimum final decision
disadvantage- very time consuming, may cause conflict if suggestions are overlooked
Laissez - faire management
where employees are totally responsible for the decision making and operation of the business
advantages and disadvantages
advantages - very trusting and empowering for employees , can be creative
disadvantages - can potentially lead to loss of control or conflicts between staff over direction
