Definition: We tend to blame others’ behavior on their personal qualities (internal factors) rather than considering outside influences.
Why do we blame the victim:
Because of the Just World Hypothesis, which suggests that people believe the world is fair, and bad things happen to people because of something they did to deserve it. This is a way to protect our own sense of security. (defensive attribution)
Self-Serving Bias:
We make internal attributions for positive events, and external ones for negative events
