  • Bronchodilators: COPD/asthma
  • Delays labor by suppressing contractions
  • position on side to increase placental perfusion
  • SE: tacky, tremors, angina, restlessness

Oxytocin

A
  • Induces labor and stimulates muscle contractions
  • Helps deliver placenta and PP bleeding
  • STOp if contractions longer than 60 seconds and if frequency more than 2-3 minute apart
  • AE: uterine rupture and panful contrations

Misoprostol

A
  • Prostaglandin
  • Cervical ripening agent
  • Prevent gastric ulcers
  • Contraindicated if getting meds to stimulate contractions, Hx C-section, Abnormal fetal HR or uterine tachysystole
  • Oral, vaginally, rectal (PPH only)

Magnesium sulfate

A
  • CNS depressant
  • Antiseizure
  • Preventing/controlling seizures in moms with preeclampsia/ecplampsia
  • Prevent preterm labor
  • Antidote: Calcium gluconate
  • Always IV infusion
  • Magnesium toxicity if: decreased TDR, rasp depression, UO < 30mL/hr
