  • Tx mild hyperkalemia
  • Helps remove extra K through stool
  • Doesn’t affect Na!

  • Anticholinergics/antispasmodics
  • Tx overactive bladder, decreases urgency, frequency, and nocturne and urinary incontinence
  • oxybutynin, tolterodine, solifenacin
  • SE: Can’t see, spit, pee, poop, think
  • Cautious of hot weather d/t decreased sweat production (potential for hyperthermia)

Epoetin Alfa (EPO)

A

Erythropoiesis-stimuating agents

  • Tx anemia associated with CKD
  • Start is Hgb < 10 and stop when Hgb >11 or uncontrolled HTN
  • AE: HTN, venous thromboembolism (blood thickens d/t high concentration RBCs)
  • Iron supplements may also be prescribed
  • Admin 3 times per week subs or IV through a dialysis line
