natural increase
birth higher than death rates
stage 1
high birth rates due to lack of contraception - infant mortality rates are high
stage 2
LIC’s - birth rate is high - agricultural based so lots of children to work on farms - better healthcare increases life excpectancy so death rates fall
stage 3
NEE’s - birth rates fall due to contraception - and more woman work so less babs - economy changes from farming to manafacturing so less children used in farming - further improved healthcare so death rates fall and life expectancy increases
stage 4 + 5
HIC’s - birth rates are low - people expect a high standard of living and may have dependant elderly relatives so less money for babs
good HC so death rates are low are LE is high
