Mediastinum is divided into superior and inferior divisions by what?
transverse plane from sternal angel to T4
Inferior division of the mediastinum is further divided into what 3 divisions
anterior, middle, and posterior
The thymus is divided into what 2 lobes?
anterior relations and posterior relations
What are major tributaries off of the brachiocephalic veins?
vertebral and inferior thyroid veins and internal thoracic vein
What is the ductus arteriosus?
It is an intrauterine structure that carries blood from the pulmonary trunk to the aorta (bypassing the lungs)
Where is the esophagus in the body?
begins as a continuation of the pharynx at C6 level and enters the diaphagm at T10
What is special about the azygos system?
It drains into the SVC, it has MANY variations and its formed by the union of the subcostal and lumbar veins on the right side
What lymph does the thoracic duct collect?
lymph from lower limbs, pelvis, abdomen, left side of thorax, left side of head and neck, and left upper limb
What lymph does the right lymphatic duct drain?
right side of thorax, right side of head and neck, and right upper limb
The greater splanchnic nerve originates from what ganglia?
5 to 9
The lesser splanchnic n. originates from what ganglion?
9-10 or 10-11
The lowest splanchnic n. originates from what ganglion?
lowest ganglion
